Sri Lanka ODI series against SouthAfrica is much of a one-sided game so far. With visitors not able to step up at crucial points in the match, Sri Lankan team management has to think out of the box, to turn the result of the series in their favor. Otherwise, it would be yet another drubbing faced by Sri Lanka. The main difference between both the sides is fielding. SouthAfrica have been in sublime form in the field and have grabbed half chances with both hands. On other side visitors have dropped crucial catches, which could have turned the game in their favor.

Sri Lanka bowlers troubled South African batsman at the start of the innings with both the openers getting out very early in innings. South Africa lost 4 wickets very quickly at the start of their innings with 4 of their top 5 batsmen not crossing even 20 runs. As a result, host weren’t able to create any sort of partnership whatsoever. But than entered David Miller, who along with Faf Duplessis rebuilt the innings for the home side. They took their time and compiled there 50’s and than accelerated to 100 each in no time. In process of scoring freely, Duplessis got out making his century. Than D Miller along with allrounder took the host to a respectable total of 307 until the end of 50 overs.

With 307 the target, it was always going to be a difficult task for visitors but they still had the experienced batting line-up to chase it down. Srilanka was off to a steady start with not losing wickets in first 6 overs. But again they threw it away, all there top order batsman got the start but didn’t turn it into match winning innings. So as a result of this they find themselves 2-0 down in the series. They need a miracle to turn the tables on hosts and win the series from here.
So third ODI between Srilanka and south Africa will be played on Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Team News

South Africa
Hosts are in the driver seat at the moment but they know they can’t get over complacent. They will like to win the series in third ODI to give their benched players an opportunity to have match practice.

There are one major injury issues as David Miller got his finger injured in the previous match and is out of the series. South Africa haven’t called any replacements for D Miller, and which will lead to one forced change. Other than that they will be happy with Faf Duplessis as he stepped up, when the team needed him the most and played a match-defining knocks for the host. All bowler have done well, and are hunting visitors wickets in partnership.

South Africa Squad: AB de Villiers(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, Farhaan Behardien, David Miller, Jean-Paul Duminy, Dwaine Pretorius, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Chris Morris, Wayne Parnell, Tabraiz Shamsi

Key Players: Faf Duplessis, Ab Devillers, Quinton De Kock, Hashim Amla, Imran Tahir

Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka will be really disappointed with their performance because they had hosted in all sorts of trouble but weren’t able to apply pressure and thrown away the advantage. They will be really looking to win tomorrows match to stay alive in the series.
Visitors bowler have impressed in patches, with mystery spinner Lahiru Sandakan troubling the South African batsman more often than not. But the main problem is their batsman are not able to step up when it’s required. In previous match, all got out after getting a start, which obviously will lead to the loss. Team management would want experienced campaigners like Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Mendis, Upul Tharanga to take some responsibility and lead the squad from a front. Sri Lanka doesn’t have any injury issues but can change there bowling combinations a little bit.

Sri Lanka Squad : Upul Tharanga(c), Dinesh Chandimal(w), Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Sandun Weerakkody, Kusal Mendis, Asela Gunarathne, Chathuranga de Silva, Sachith Pathirana, Jeffrey Vandersay, Lakshan Sandakan, Lahiru Madushanka, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lahiru Kumara, Suranga Lakmal, Vikum Sanjaya

Captain & Vice Captain: So in our expert team we have selected Faf Duplessis as captain and for Vice Capitan you have plenty of options, we have chosen ABD as he was striking the ball really well in first match. He got out early in second, but ones he get settled he is unbeatable. ANY SUGGESTION PLEASE COMMENT BELOW.

Batsman: Amla will always be in my team because of his hitting skills and fielding. Other than that we have opted for Kusal Mendis and Upul Tharanga. Kusal Mendis have been selected because of his good form in first match. We had options between Tharanga and N Dickwella, but for his experience and performance we have opted for Upul Tharanga. Please take a note don’t select D Miller as he is out of the series due to injury. ANY SUGGESTION PLEASE COMMENT BELOW.

Allrounders: Chris Morris, Asela Gururatne are my two picks who will do well in next ODI. Chris Morris has impressed us with batting and bowling in previous match. Asela Gururatne is good bowler and more than a handy batsman, he got out both times due to some extra ordinary fielding by home side. Another batsman who you can think in selection is JP Duminy but he haven’t performed well with bat but had done decently in his short bowling spells. ANY SUGGESTION PLEASE COMMENT BELOW.

Bowlers: In bowlers we have gone with 2 spinners and 1pacer combo. In two spinner, Imran Tahir is one and will personally say all of you please don’t leave him out of your squad, I haven’t seen more energetic spinner than him. Another one is Srilankan,  Sachitra Pathirana he had a successful second match and so we have picked him. Only bowler in the side is Wayne Parnell who is good bowling option in the start and is also very handy with bat. ANY SUGGESTION PLEASE COMMENT BELOW.

Note: Please review the team once more before the start of the match, to get notified of any changes due to injury.
